HOW WE HELP

At LJAE Foundation, we provide a range of services aimed at supporting individuals and families in need. From recovery programs and financial assistance to offering essential clothing and meals, our efforts focus on fostering well-being and stability for all. We are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

LJAE Pantry Food Bank

The LJAE Pantry Food Bank is a daily service dedicated to supporting individuals and families in need, including men, women, and children who are homeless, low-income, or in crisis. Every 30 days, clients can access nutritious and diverse food options essential for daily sustenance. Our pantry offers key food items such as peanut butter, canned soups, fruits, vegetables, stews, fish, and beans, along with whole grain pasta and other dried goods with a long shelf life, helping to combat hunger in the community.

In addition to our daily pantry services, LJAE Pantry plans to offer hot meal services 1-3 times a week, providing those in need with a chance to enjoy a hot meal in a welcoming environment. These scheduled meal times are designed to foster a sense of normalcy and community while offering peer support and access to referrals that can help improve their current circumstances.

Our outreach efforts extend beyond the pantry doors. The LJAE Pantry team works directly in neighborhoods known for homelessness and poverty, ensuring those in need are aware of the services we offer. We distribute information and resources on how to connect with the LJAE Foundation for assistance.

Looking ahead, we aim to introduce a Holiday Meal Program to provide pre-packed holiday meals to families in need, as well as hosting holiday-themed dining events where the community can gather for a special hot meal, offering comfort and connection during key times of the year.

LJAE Pathways to Recovery

The LJAE Pathways to Recovery program is dedicated to promoting gender-sensitive harm reduction services for adults who use or inject drugs in Arizona and Nevada. Our goal is to improve the sexual and reproductive health of these individuals by providing safe spaces free from stigma and discrimination, where they can access vital health services and support.

Objectives:

Capacity Building: Enhance the capacity of at least one adult who uses/injects drugs in Arizona to establish community-led systems for mobilizing and referring individuals to sexual reproductive health services and harm reduction.

Health Services Access: Facilitate access to prevention, treatment, care, and support for at least 1,000 adults who use/inject drugs. This includes services for HIV/AIDS, STIs, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis, and needle and syringe replacement programs.

Safe Spaces: Create spaces free from stigma and discrimination where adults who use/inject drugs and their communities can engage in dialogue, peer group meetings, and receive tailored harm reduction services.

LJAE Closet

The LJAE Closet is more than just a clothing donation program—it’s an initiative designed to empower those in need by allowing them to shop in a store-like setting. Approved clients will receive an LJAE Voucher and a set appointment to shop in our clothing donation area. By offering the experience of browsing and selecting clothes as if in a regular store, the LJAE Closet helps restore dignity and confidence to individuals facing hardship.

Our goal is to elevate the self-esteem of those we serve, providing them with clean, quality clothing in an environment that respects their dignity and personal choices. This tentative program is a key part of our mission to help people feel valued as they work towards improving their circumstances.

LJAE Financial Support Services

The LJAE Financial Assistance Program offers vital support to individuals and families facing financial hardship. Depending on available funds, we provide assistance for:

  • Rental Assistance: Help with rent for those facing eviction (5-day eviction notice required) or support with move-in fees on a case-by-case basis.

  • Utilities Assistance: Support for individuals with verified utility shutoff notices or impending disconnections.

  • Medical Copays: Assistance with medically necessary medication or surgery copays, granted on a case-by-case basis, based on available funds.

All assistance is subject to funding availability and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis to ensure we provide help to those most in need.
